Italian lawyer for civil law matters in Italy: legal assistance from abroad

Avv. Renato Giuseppe Fiorentino · Ordine degli Avvocati di Napoli

If you live in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or elsewhere and you need a lawyer in Italy, Studio Legale Fiorentino assists individuals and companies with civil law matters in Italy: inheritance and gifts, real estate, family law, disputes with banks, contracts and debt collection. The practice works at a distance: documents online, phone, WhatsApp and video call.

Don’t speak Italian? Automatic Italian–English translation

Meetings are held in Italian. If you speak English, in the Google Meet video call we can turn on automatic voice translation between Italian and English.

  • You need a computer: translation is not available from a phone.
  • The translated voice comes a few seconds late; translation lasts up to 90 minutes.
  • At the start we ask you to agree to have your voice translated.
  • It is an automatic tool and can make mistakes, especially with names, numbers and technical terms: if something is unclear, ask us to repeat. After the meeting you receive a written summary.
  • Phone and WhatsApp calls have no translation: on WhatsApp we send you the Meet link.
  • The meeting is not recorded.

  • Real estate: buying, selling, co-ownership, leases and condominium disputes.
  • Family law: separation, divorce and custody of children when one of the spouses lives in Italy or the property is in Italy.

Questions people abroad often ask

Do I need to travel to Italy? Often not. Many steps can be done at a distance. When an original signature is required, we explain how to sign a power of attorney from your country, for example before a notary or an Italian consulate, with the formalities (such as an apostille) that apply to your case.

Which law applies? It depends on the matter: for inheritance, residence and the choice made in a will count; for real estate, Italian law applies to property located in Italy; for family matters, jurisdiction and applicable law depend on residence and nationality of the spouses. Each case is assessed on its documents.

How are fees agreed? After reviewing the documents we send a written quote before the engagement.
